![]() If you haven't fallen in love with the Sweet Child O' Mine cover in the trailer yet, keep listening. It's incredible. And it needs to be because this movie is incredible. Last House on the Left is a remake of a 1972 Wes Craven flick. But not just any Craven flick, his FIRST! Now, for you noobs who aren't familiar with Craven, kill yourself now, or if you want to be a better person-- learn who he is. I'm sure you've seen his movies. He's the genius behind A Nightmare on Elm Street (yes, Freddy Kruger for the idiots in the crowd), The Hills Have Eyes, Red Eye, and my favorite-- SCREAM! But like all good movies, they get remade, or get sequels. Luckily, this isn't one of those films that the studio took and made into their own. It's a film that Craven remade. He owned the rights, so he remade the film. For those of you who haven't seen the original, I suggest you see it. It's absolutely incredible. But I must warn you, the original, and this film, are not for the faint of heart. If you don't like rape, revenge, tormenting the innocent, or violent acts of brutality, you won't like these films. Last House on the Left is about a girl and her friend who are kidnapped, taken hostage, raped, and killed, and the killers (ex-cons), seek shelter in a nearby home. It just so happens that the home they choose happens to be the house of the parents of the daughter they kidnapped. It's a very gritty, raw film. I love the original, and I was scared they were going to fuck this film up. But they actually did a good job. Mainly because it's a different film. It's not the same film shot for shot. The story is a bit different, the theme is a little different, and even the tone is a little different. The cinematography is incredible. The acting is outstanding. The violence is very well done. It gets to you. It crawls under your skin. You never feel like you're watching a movie. You feel as if you're actually there. Both the original and the remake are worth watching. So do yourself a favor and go watch this film. But once again, it's not one of those films that you're going to want to watch with your family. It's a very nerve hitting film. It will get you down to your core and make you feel dirty. So be ready for that. This shit is no picnic!
